Monica Dessert, M.A., LMFT

Monica began her career providing mental health services in schools, where she fell in love with the collaborative community environment of schools.  She then got promoted to a Field Supervisor, overseeing and managing the oversight of counselors and a counseling program in various schools throughout Los Angeles.  In this position, she gained experience with training and developing the volunteer counselors that committed to working at school for one school year.  Monica became adept at building relationships, mentorships, and partnerships with various people: 25-30 counselors each year and the various faculty/staff in the various schools.  In addition, she conducted trainings and presentations regarding mental health topics.   

 

Monica continued her work in co-founding a non-profit, low-cost school mental health program in 2012 and acting as Clinical Director.  Monica helped grow the agency from serving 7 schools in its first year, to over 30 schools when she left in 2019.  She built an outstanding reputation of working with integrity, knowledge, insight, and a sense of humor.  Monica looks forward to continuing her work of providing mental health services in schools and partnering with the school communities 

 

Monica is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California.  She graduated from UCLA with a B.S. in Psychology and Economics in 2001 and obtained her M.S. in Counseling from California State University, Northridge in 2005.  She obtained her MFT license in 2009 and currently has a private practice in West Los Angeles providing child and adolescent therapy.
